The President's Challenge

The President's Challenge is a national, non-partisan fitness campaign operated by the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition that aims to encourage all Americans to "make being active part of their everyday lives" and to be physically fit. The campaign offers the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) program for starters and Presidents Champions program for more active people. ATA has been a proud advocate of the Presidents Challenge since November 2010, pledging to promote the program to members and licensees indefinitely to get martial artists enrolled and winning. The goal is to reduce the rising rates of obesity and related health problems worldwide, particularly in the United States, by raising the profile of martial arts as a healthy lifestyle choice that everyone can and should make. Engaging in the President's Challenge fitness campaign also bolsters the fitness image and credentials of ATA martial arts training, with tangible results for licensees.

Always one to lead by example, Grand Master In Ho Lee, 9th Degree Black Belt, Dae Sah Boo Nim of WTTU/ATA/STF, enrolled first in the PALA program, earning his award in record time. He then entered the Champions program, logging daily workouts and other rigorous activities into the website, and with steady progress soon achieved Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels in the Challenge, with Platinum his ultimate goal (which he will reach this fall!) His supreme example has inspired almost 1,100 martial artists to join the President's Challenge with ATA so far, about a quarter of whom have won at least one program level. Winners may add an official patch to their traditional white uniforms (see your instructor for proper placement) and add their names to the official Winners List on ATALeadershipNOW.com.
